About InterTechnics
Where piping and programming meet
I’m Jeff Forrester, a Great Highland bagpiper and longtime web developer from the Appalachian Highlands of East Tennessee.
I created InterTechnics as the home for my web work and the online projects that grow out of my other interests. Two of the largest are Bagpipe Tunes and PipeWriter. Together, they help pipers locate music and work with bagpipe notation online.
Bagpipe Tunes
Bagpipe Tunes is a searchable collection containing more than 5,500 Great Highland Bagpipe tunes. The library makes music available in BWW, BMW and PiobMaster formats used by bagpipe notation software. It is intended as a practical resource for pipers searching for repertoire, comparing settings or preparing music for practice and performance.
PipeWriter
PipeWriter provides a browser-based environment for creating and editing bagpipe music. It reflects the same practical focus as the tune library: useful tools should be straightforward to reach and should serve the musicians actually using them.
Web development
I have worked professionally in web design, programming, hosting and server administration for more than two decades. My background is centered on the LAMP stack—Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP—as well as WordPress development and ongoing support for businesses and organizations.
I maintain these bagpipe resources as their publisher and developer. If you have a question about one of the projects, encounter a problem or need to reach me about professional web services, please use the information on the Contact page.
